All Parts of Us Deserve Compassion and Care
Welcome! My name is Jordyn (she/her). I am a trauma therapist licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. I am a white, queer/bisexual, neurodivergent/ADHD, able-bodied with chronic pain, healing from c-ptsd, genderfluid cis woman and mother living in Pennsylvania on occupied Lenni-Lenape land. I love dogs, tarot, bodies of water, bodily autonomy, dancing, laughing, liberation, trees, animals, music, plants, mountains, rituals, spells, and my community of friends, family, ancestors, and neighbors. I am rooting for the fall of the white supremacist capitalistic cishetero-patriarchy!
I approach therapy from an anti-oppressive, systemic, psychodynamic and relational lens with a foundation rooted in "Parts Work"—informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Through this modality, we acknowledge that we all have multiple parts of ourselves that make up our internal system. Our Core Self (our most curious, compassionate, confident, and creative self) may feel unfamiliar and distant to us, but we have the capacity to restore our connection to this intuitive and aligned Self. Our protective parts, attempting to keep us safe, responsible, and surviving, may use skills that were once reinforced or essential (like people pleasing, perfectionism, avoidance, substance use, shame, etc.) that may no longer serve us. We do not dispose of our parts, but rather we witness and learn to understand them and eventually update their expired roles with something more helpful to us now. Our protectors’ main purpose is to keep our most wounded, exiled parts safe. With our protectors’ cooperation, we can retrieve those hurt & neglected parts from the shadows and offer them love, empathy, unburdening, & repair.
Additionally, I offer healing through EMDR—a somatic intervention that helps us reprocess traumatic and stressful events, memories, and beliefs so that we no longer feel stuck or overwhelmed by fear and hypervigilance. This intervention utilizes bilateral (left to right) stimulation to mimic the natural processing that typically happens during R.E.M. sleep—allowing our brain and body to properly store these incidents in the past where they belong and release our present selves of the severe symptoms and internalized negative messages that persist long after the distressing event has concluded.
We always begin trauma work by orienting to safety, building a trusting relationship, enhancing somatic resources, practicing ongoing consent, and moving at your pace.
With love and respect for queer and trans individuals, I aim to provide a validating space in which you can explore strengths and stressors surrounding your identity, I offer non-judgmental, affirming, and competent counseling where we can discuss issues such as discrimination, intersectionality, dysmorphia, advocacy, marginalization, political violence, family, sex, relationships, etc., related to your LGBTQIA+ identity and beyond.
I provide LPC Supervision & Clinical Consultation and love to sit with therapists in the depth & beauty of the work we provide. I understand first hand how difficult and vulnerable the licensure journey is & how essential it is to find a supervisor we feel safe with.
I am licensed to see clients residing in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, & Maryland.
